lXR USB midi clock & ableton

edited October 2013 in General
Firstly 3 day build build by very very nice, the synth engine is the best I've used on a drum machine, beating my tempest and machinedrum, top marks Julian

Anyway my question is has anyone had any success with midi clock over USB in ableton. Midi over din sync is working flawlessly but using the USB would free up another midi port.

  • I use it...it works fine. I only own one midi cable currently so it has been a bit of a life saver :)
  • Hi admviolin, do you have any settings for ableton? I can't seem to get it to work at all in live 9... Or maybe I have another problem :(
  • I'm using 8.something...  Make sure the LXR is turned on and the usb is plugged in before starting Ableton.

Under preferences/midi sync, you should have "Sonic Potions USB MIDI" as an option under MIDI ports.

Since I use Ableton as the master, I only highlight the output ports.

If Ableton isn't recognizing the usb/midi port, read all my threads about fixing it (I've had a bunch of problems with it but finally fixed it with some re-soldering)
  • Thanks for advice but still no usb midi sync... Will try.looking through forum and take a look at soldering.
  • Start with the isolation tape step in the instructions.
  • Is that isolation tape on the two resistors next to the usb? I read that somewhere :/
  • No, you may not have the same problem.  Pioneer run PCBs a couple of solder joints were too close to the USB so it was recommended to put some tape over them/under the USB to prevent shorts.

I just looked at the instructions and that step is gone.  I think Julian fixed that when redesigning the PCBs
  • I had a kit from latest batch so Probo not that problem, may try and re-solder. I'm using osx, maybe that also
