Which pad controller do you use ? (if any)

edited October 2013 in General
Hello folks,
there is just a burning question inside me: does anybody use a pad controller to play externally into the sequencer via MIDI ?
If yes, what kind do you use ? Korg PadKontrol, AKAI MPD...? As a formerly MPC user, i would give this a try again and use a mixture of internal sequencing for the ultra-tight stuff and external, for the more human touch. So i would appreciate it, if any here would be willing to share their experiences and opinions.

  • Good idea.....I might try using my Quneo later today.  I'll let you know.
  • i build this (if it can be considered a pad controller)
still have to give the firmware some final touches, but works great.
i think it is probably fun with any pad or button controller. the double trigger problem that can be seen in the beginning of my video was fixed in the lxr firmware by julian.
  • not a pad controller, but a controller I use is the flame echometer. lots of fun :-)

    but this is something OT

  • I played around with it a bit tonight, was pretty fun.  I've never been a fan of writing beats with pads, but I like being able to control pitch and filters with pressure/position on the pad.  Would be cool to be able to control global settings like sample rate, morph and shuffle too.

I am tempted by the thought of using the xy-controller of a Korg PadKontrol for such funny stuff like morph or decimation....
