Bug: LXR stops playing when in Voice Mode and try to set LFO to 2nd last value in list 'mix'

screen remains on, mode, track and step buttons still work except only to remove steps, not to re-add.

Except play button doesn't work when crash happens. Only solution seems to be power off and back on?

(I'd expected the LXR to continue playing and allow me to set the LFO to 'pan'.)

thanks

  • This appears to be the same issue as in the other forum post: LFO crashes the LXR
  • Should be fixed in the next firmware update.
  • That's great Julian. The LXR is superb.
  • I found a similar thing, I wonder if it's fixed also, or still there..
I was editing the per-step modulation dest1, scrolling through all possible destinations via the analog pot, and UI froze completely.  but pattern continued to play, no further panel responses until a reboot.
  • It would be a great help if you could find out which specific destination froze/crashed the synth. All modulations are running through the same mod matrix engine. So there should be no difference between LFO, Step or velocity modulation. If the LFO crashes with one destination, probably the step modulation will too.

It is probably just a missing special case handler for a specific value or a typo in the parameter type table. depending on parameter type the modulations have to be handled in different ways.
Since this is build as a semi automatic process it is easy to miss a non working parameter ;)
  • the next update, which is nearly ready, will fix a lot of different minor bugs (already crossed out on the buglist now) and after that i'll address the mod matrix.

looking for this restart/lockup source, I found a pretty consistent failure.

    1) start a pattern playing.  Failure is worse when playing.
    2) select a step to edit. (press the step edit button, or SHIFT + press a step, in Voice edit mode)
    3) scroll to Dst, (first Mod Destination), make sure Val is >0.
    4) press encoder to view long Destination names
    5) use first analog pot to edit Destination.

As I sweep through Destinations, a crash happens.  I think it occurs when I get to some of the per-voice modulation destination parameters, but it's hard to tell because the display becomes unreliable.

A couple of times, after the crash, the display returned "upside down" -- that is, the top row of text on the bottom, and the bottom row on the top line... I don't know if that's diagnostic of anything for you or not.
