Weirdly acting LXR....

Hi all !

Well, I soldered my LXR yesterday but it seems like something went wrong....

When I'm on the OSC page, if I choose to edit voice 2 (or voice 3) osc param, I
get a Mix Mix Mix Mix on the 1st page and a list of esoterical
characters if I look at the second page...

I thought I swapped one HC595 with a HC165 near the voices buttons,
but it's not the case...I checked the orientation of the chips but it's
still the same....

What could be wrong ?

Oh, by the
way, when powering up the LXR, do all the LED have to light before the
sole "voice" led is lit ? Because it has bneen the case when I first
powered up the LXR, but it's not the case anymore...

Cheers !

Tom.

  • have you tried re-installing the firmware?
    www.sonic-potions.com/public/FIRMWARE.BIN
  • Nope, I'll try this when I come back home tonight.

Can I leave the sonic presets on the Card or should it be only filled with the firmware.bin ?

    Cheers,

    Tom.

  • you can lave the card as it is.
The FRIMWARE.BIN just has to be on the card.
  • OK, The trick seems to have put my LXR on the right working way !

    Thanks a lot !
  • I had the same exact same issue with mine ("Mix mix mix" display and garbage on lcd after clicking encoder ).  I reinstalled the firmware which fixed it.  However, the same thing happened a second time a few days later.

Is the cause of this known?
  • IF it is really due to a wrong flashed chip, it should not happen on its own.
Since all menu and text stuff is saved inside the flash memory that can only be altered from the bootloader.

Did you do something special for it to happen again? ;)
  • I think it might be related to the sd card.  I was using a 256mb one which was working fine.  Then it stopped working and wasn't detected.   After this it displayed the "Mix mix mix mix" thing.   It checked the card in a PC, scanned it for errors and it reported ok.  I swapped for a 512mb card and tried reloading the firmware, which gave a few "SD Init errors" a number of times before working properly.

I've inspected the sd card holder and re-did the solder connections on it.

I'll try and trace the issue more carefully if I see it again.

  • I had similar issues. On Drum 2 and Drum 3 I got "Mix Mix Mix Mix" on all pages and on some sounds i had the same display under some the settings pages. I re-installed the firmware just like suggested here and now it seems to be fine.

and WOW this little machine is AWESOME! Its like I almost cant believe it. >-)
