LFO crashes the LXR

edited September 2013 in Troubleshooting
Whenever I play around on the LFO destinations all sounds are suddenly silent.
I have to turn off the device and then it goes again.
More generally, the LFO slight impact on the destinations.

  • After format SD card the Lfo works fine.

  • So the problem only occured without SD card?

It could be that without a loaded preset the LFO initializes to a bogus destination that crashes the LXR.
A propper init sound without SD card is already on my todo list.
  • For example:

    Kit: Mochito
    Voice 6 hh
    Lfo: destination "ch"

If i set to "ch", all sounds totally quiet.

  • At my unit when I set LFO destination to the last "mix" option (of all available) LXR stops playing and can't be run again. I can just turn off individual steps (LEDs go dark) but can't turn them on. Play button doesn't react althoug it's LED can be switched on and off (but no blinks indicating play state). It's still possible to switch between various modes and pages. When I try to load pattern it freezes at "Loading pattern".

I also get a crash in the LFO. I think the problem might be that initially, the target voice for the LFO is set to 0 (which is an invalid voice). When you start playing with the destinations, it crashes. Another issue with the LFO is that the list of destinations is a bit strange. Some of the entries are blank, and some are repeats and some don't seem to work (eg I haven't been able to get FRQ destination to do anything on voice 1. I assume it should affect filter freq?).
Other than this LFO issue, I have only seen one other crash which happened shortly after I pulled out a cable from L2 audio out (although I don't know if that action was related to, or caused the crash).
  • I have a general idea what might be the problem here.
Should be fixed with one of the following firmware updates.
The next update is nearly done, afterwards I will adress the mod matrix bugs.
  • I just had a look at this issue... could it be that the LFO routing only crashes the synth if the invalid "voice=0" is selected?
  • I have not noticed the crash since I started setting the voice number first before touching the destinations, so it could very well be.
  • I hope this is resolved with the latest firmware 0.24a
Now you should not be able to set the voice parameter to 0 and it will be fixed on loaded presets that allready have the voice set to 0.
  • Ok, that seems to be keeping the voice from going to 0. However, what seems to be happening now is that you need to actually set the knob before it takes effect. For example, voice is set to 1, I change the mod dest to COA, and nothing happens, however if I change the VOI parameter to 2 and then back to 1 it starts modulating COA. Then if I immediately change mod dest to FRQ it is modulating nothing until I change VOI parameter to 2 and back to 1, then it modulates filter freq.
